These festivals are intended to be a welcoming and fun atmosphere for children to play some hockey. However, as a Festival (as opposed to a Tournament), there is no keeping tally of match results and no overall winner of the day.
Timings Games will start (first Push Back) at 1300 and will finish no later than 1530. Duration of games will be slightly dependent upon numbers of teams entered but will be approximately 8-12mins in duration, with no half time.
Location Dauntsey's School Hockey Pitches, West Lavington, SN10 4HE.
Cost The aim is to keep costs as low as possible, therefore, we seek only to cover the costs of running the event. The cost of running each festival will be divided evenly amongst the clubs who attend each event. This is not expected to exceed £45 per festival based on 6 clubs attending. Devizes Hockey Club will keep a tally of clubs participating at each event during the season and send a consolidated bill at the close of the season.
Teams: The following is a suggested format but can be flexed on the day to maximise playing time; teams can agree exact compositions depending upon who they have available for each game/festival U8s will play between 4(min) & 6(max)-a-side matches with no goalkeeper. U10s, U12s & U14s will play 7-a-side with goal keepers. If a team does not have a trained keeper, they can either borrow from another club, or the match shall be played without keepers. The philosophy should be to get children playing as much fun hockey as we can!
Rules. Again, the aim here is to get children playing, so rules can be flexed to allow for the abilities of the teams involved. But as a guide, the following will be aimed for: U8s will play to the QuickSticks Rules
Umpires Each team will be required to provide an umpire. This does not need to be a fully qualified umpire and could be a "competent person" or junior seeking further umpiring experience, maximising the experience of all involved.
Entries Each club will be guaranteed one place per festival, should they choose to take it up. Thereafter, another 1 or 2 teams may be added depending upon the overall demand. On the entry forms below, please forecast the desired number of teams you would like to enter and once all entries are received, we will allocate exact numbers of teams per club.
Links to an online entry form with all the dates can be found below where clubs can submit their forecast of entries for all of the festivals. These can be amended throughout the season.
All entries should be confirmed (i.e. requests on entry form finalised) no later than 14 days prior to each festival (with the exception of the first two (17th & 24th Oct) which should be submitted no later than 7 days prior (due to short timeframe).)
You will receive an email from email@example.com with the allocated number of teams which you MUST reply to for confirmation. If you do not receive an email please make contact. Any team withdrawn within 7 days of the festival will still be charged.
